Battlefield 1943 Interview

An interview with a Dice team member has been released over at Video Gamer. We have the newly released facts summarized for you below.

Battlefield 1943 is came about because a couple of the Bad Company team members were looking for a project to work on (as they had nothing else to do).

DICE hopes that Battlefield 1943 (with it’s new low price, and availability on different consoles), will do well as a solid entry level first person shooter/war game.

Battlefield 1943 was designed as a less bloated version or other Battlefield titles, basically it all comes down to game play, and with Battlefield 1943 you can play any way you want. From running in like Rambo, or working with other team members to plan your assault.

Again DICE seems to sidestep the issue of what other Battlefield games are currently in development. They talk about Heroes and bad Company 2, however they admit other titles are in development. Could this be the elusive Battlefield 3?

They admit due to the different input systems for the various consoles that cross-platform gaming would be unfair, especially if PC gamers were facing those on consoles.

DICE goes on to mention that it’s not the number of players in a game of Battlefield that makes it what it is. 24 players is enough and in previous titles even the professional clans understood this (and thats why clan matches were usually 8v8 or 12v12).

Finally they would like fans to know that Battlefield 1943 is not just a casual game, and that its worth giving it a try – heck there will even be a free trial of Battlefield available on release.
